James C. Shevlet, Jr.  -  Managing Partner

James C. Shevlet, Jr. formed Hampton Parkway Capital, LLC as a vehicle to provide private capital and strategic guidance to leading middle market companies in the US. Prior to founding HPC, Mr. Shevlet was a Managing Director, Co-Founder and Co-Head of the Mezzanine and Private Credit business at The Carlyle Group. The business focused on Direct Lending, Opportunistic Credit, and Structured Equity investments. Mr. Shevlet opened the Los Angeles office of Carlyle and was a Global Partner of the firm. While at Carlyle, he managed the day to day activities of two private limited partnerships aggregating approximately $1 billion in assets under management and was on the Investment Committee. He managed a team of eleven investment and investor services professionals, the investment process, fund raising and limited partner relationships, business development, portfolio company management, and the liaison with the Founders and other senior professionals of The Carlyle Group.

Prior to Carlyle, Mr. Shevlet was a Senior Vice President and Principal at TCW/Crescent Mezzanine, LLC and TCW, now known as Crescent Capital Group. While at TCW/Crescent, he was a lead due diligence and transaction execution professional, managed the portfolio review process and was involved at The Board level for a variety of investments. He was a senior investment manager for TCW/Crescent Mezzanine Partners II and III.

Prior thereto, Mr. Shevlet was a Vice President and Principal with Pacific Mezzanine Investors (the predecessor to Windjammer Capital Investors), a wholly-owned affiliate of Pacific Life Insurance Company.  He was also a Corporate Loan Officer at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company.  He has advised several high-net worth family investment offices and is a Member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Division of The March of Dimes.

Mr. Shevlet graduated with distinction from The University of Michigan and has an MBA from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania.  He lives with his wife and three children in Manhattan Beach, CA.
